Flower Press Creative Studio, LLC BBB Business Review
I'm a Lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business. We wanted to develop branding and materials for a new course called POWer: Building the Entrepreneurial Mindset from the Perspective of Women. We provided goals, objectives, and specific class curriculum and materials to them and asked them to develop a logo, color palette, and printable template for materials. It was very effective and fast. We received amazing feedback from students.Lecturer in Management, Stanford Graduate School of Business
I'm the Founder of Geek Girl Careers. I needed a partner to provide UX design and development services and collaborate on new ideas for my career platform targeted at women seeking careers in technology. Flower Press designed and developed the entire platform, including frontend and backend. They also assisted in some of the strategy discussions for the project. I've been extremely satisfied with their work. Founder, Geek Girl Careers (Acquired)

Our Approach

FAQs

Learn more about how we work on your custom career apps & platforms.

Why do you like to work on education & career brands?

+-

Our founder is the daughter of two teachers who spent their lives giving back to their communities. Her Mom taught kindergarten for 45 years, and her Dad taught second grade. Our studio believes in empowering people to be the best versions of themselves. People can achieve this through access to information, building connections, and choosing the right career path. We also believe in empowering users through well-designed software systems. We love working with mission-driven companies and have seen great success in the career and education platforms we have taken on. We look for companies that have a well-thought-out niche and solid product-market fit.

How long have you been building apps for education brands?

+-

We first started working on education and career brands in 2005. We worked on Maya’s Mom, which BabyCenter acquired in 2007. Maya’s Mom became BabyCenter forums. With that acquisition, our agency relationship carried over, and we worked on improving user experience design within BabyCenter’s many tools and forums. Our work was successful, and we developed relationships within the parent and education community.

We started working with GreatSchools, a K-12 school rating service. This work taught us the need for better information sources for education opportunities in K-12, college, and graduate school. Many students needed mentorship and personal connections. From networking within this space and moving more into career and hiring platform development.

How long have you been working on career apps & platforms?

+-

Based on our earlier work in the education space, we found connections in career, coaching, hiring, and personal development. Finding the right career path and getting hired into an optimal role is critical. In 2009, we began working for InsideTrack, a college and career coaching service. We helped design and engineer web tools, which served as cobranded shared workspaces for tutoring, coaching, and counseling sessions.

This work was hugely successful, with over 50 US universities adopting their program.

Seeing students succeed in college and attempt to choose an appropriate career path led us to realize there was a need for focused tools in this space. From 2009 – 2024, we worked on the following career development platforms:

  • MD Applicants: Ranking MD college admissions rates for potential doctors
  • Student Doctor Network: A career networking platform for aspiring and practicing doctors
  • Jobs Nirvana: A career placement, search, and mentorship platform for post-graduate students seeking technology careers
  • Geek Girl Careers: A job search and mentorship platform for women seeking careers in technology
  • Real Work: A hiring platform for the trades.

At Flower Press Interactive, we are incredibly grateful and humbled to have such amazing clients who bring new opportunities to communities.

What do I need to have in place before working with you?

+-

We recommend that founders take several steps to validate their ideas before involving us. This includes:

  • Identify the Problem: Ensure that your idea solves a real problem your target audience faces. Define the pain points clearly.
  • Research the Market: Look into the market demand for your solution. Are there competitors? How are they trying to solve the problem? Identify the gaps that your idea can fill.
  • Define your Target Audience: Understand who will benefit from your idea. Create a detailed profile of your ideal customer.

With this information, we can come in to help with additional steps, including:

  • Create a Prototype: Design a prototype upon which to gather feedback. Could you keep it simple but functional?
  • Gather Feedback: Test your prototype with your target audience. Listen carefully to their feedback and be ready to make adjustments.
  • Analyze & Iterate: Review the feedback and data collected. Refine your idea based on your learning and test again if needed.
  • Build & Launch: Build out your minimal viable product (MVP) and gather feedback.

Please reach out if you’re unsure if you’re ready to work with us. We’re happy to help refine your background research or point you to appropriate resources to get things in place.

+-

Our team includes senior product management, design, and engineering practitioners. We come from diverse backgrounds, including ex-Google and ex-Microsoft. Many of our leadership team members have worked together for 10 – 15 years. Learn more about our studio.

How do you work?

+-

At Flower Press Interactive, user-centered design practices are at the heart of our process. Through ongoing research, we uncover product insights that inform our direction. We believe that digital products must be both beautiful and functional, and product insights form the road map to design better apps, websites, and experiences. Learn more about our approach.

What services do you provide? What if I only need some of these services?

+-

We offer the full suite of services to bring web apps, mobile apps, and websites to life, including research, user experience design, visual design, engineering, and quality assurance. We also engage with companies who have existing teams and only need support in some of these areas. We are accustomed to only handling design or engineering or QA. We are also accustomed to handling full design and build for complex applications. Our services are flexible to meet your needs.

Do you offer maintenance for the custom apps and websites you create?

+-

Yes! We have a full team available to support and enhance your apps. We partner with our customers for years, if needed, and help to grow their offerings over time. For many customers we have been their outsourced design and engineering team through version one, two and three of their products. If you have an in-house team, or plan to build one, we can also transition maintenance to your in-house team. To read more about our long-term client relationships, check out our profile on Clutch.

Who will work on my project?

+-

We will assign senior professionals to work on your project, with experience in the disciplines you require. Learn more about our studio.

What kind of time commitment will you need from me?

+-

We are flexible in how we work. Some founders are very available and engaged with our builds, others are doing the project as a side hustle. We generally like to schedule weekly meetings during active design and development. Timing is flexible, and we can accommodate your schedule. During slower periods, we will send weekly reports summarizing progress, and ask specific questions as they arise. We work with online tools including Zoom, Slack and email.
